We feature top-of-the-line Havahart traps because all models come fully assembled and are easy to bait, set, and release. Their spring-loaded doors have sensitive triggers to make quick, secure catches and the steel-reinforced high-tensile wire mesh construction is designed for a long life and maximum resistance to damage. The smooth inside edges protect trapped animals. The Easy Set trap takes only one hand to set and release so there's no fiddling with a sensitive mechanism when setting it or releasing a trapped animal. Some animals are very wary of entering a space that looks like it has no way out so that a 2 door model will sometimes catch a wily animal that a 1 door model won't. One or more of these traps should be set with a raccoon bait (such as Product T-14 below) and should be placed in areas frequented by the raccoons you wish to catch or along paths commonly used by them. If you opt for live release, captured raccoons should be released far away, some say as far as 20 miles, in order to ensure they do not return. |
